A Decentralandalytics Event Report

Yesterday marked the opening of Decentraland’s newest hot spot – the Atari Casino. Located at -95,110, the Casino features many of the games users have come to know and love in Decentraland and will no doubt be home to many future events given the success of their launch party.

A graph of the total attendees of the Atari Casino launch party.
Total Attendees of the Atari Casino Opening

The event brought in huge numbers of players, the largest single event that we’ve seen since we’ve started keeping records. The event – which lasted the hour between 4pm and 5pm EST – brought in a peak of 868 concurrent users. Over the course of the event a grand total of approximately 2179 unique users attended the event. The data was surprisingly hard to come by as it seems as if Atari Casino was deployed on developer-owned property and doesn’t show as an independent estate on the blockchain. Perhaps the developers are leasing or renting the land to Atari.

Total Active Players in Decentraland during the event, broken down by server

The Launch Party created a surge in users to Decentraland. While average player totals ranged between 2-400 on any given day earlier in the week, the event caused a surge in active players which exceeded 1160+ users at 4pm EST. Players were spread across the servers with the highest concentrations in Loki (~29%), Fenrir (~22%), Artemis (~22%), and Unicorn (~7%).

Across these users, an aggregate of 840 ETH – or $2.3MM USD at the price of Ethereum at 4pm – was brought to the event, held by about half of the total unique visitors.

Dillon Francis DJing the event as an NPC

The event kicked off with an impressive fireworks show deployed as part of the estate scene which was a unique experience. As has been become commonplace with Casino parties, raffles gave Mana and NFTs away to raffle winners and event attendees, and prizes awarded to the biggest winners of FREE play tokens throughout the event. The Casino launch party featured a DJ as an Non-Playable Character (NPC) which was a unique and favorable choice that the players seemed to appreciate. The casino itself had a very impressive scene deployed, complete with laser lights. The music produced by Dillon Francis was appreciated by all. There was even a Piñata which you could interact with!

By all accounts, the event was a success. A near record number of users were in attendance, innovative new scenes and parcel features were successfully demonstrated, and most importantly – everyone who attended (that we spoke to) had a great time. We look forward to the next event thrown at this Estate!
